Quick Observation
Great coverage, travel and skiing at Churchill, just probably not above treeline. River crossing is good, snow was supportive top to bottom and small trees and alders are filled in nicely. Skied one lap of the south path so there's plenty left for the rest of you. Surface hoar from valley bottom to around 1750m in areas where you would expect to find it. From 1750m up, a thin crust is present and gets thicker with elevation gain up to treeline where the wind has blown it away, buried it, or the inversion ended. Quick pit at around 2100m east aspect in sheltered treeline. No results on 3xcompression tests and no sign of the early Jan pwl banff are seeing. Sign of solar effect on the endless chain with pinwheeling and snowballing but no new avalanches to be seen.
