Avalanche
We were touring on a NE aspect at ~8,700’ on Galena pass, managing terrain to ensure no overhead hazards and avoiding anything over 30 degrees. We felt a large collapse and then moved to skiers left to even mellower terrain. As I rode the last hundred feet, I saw the avalanche move and the snow cloud go up. The avalanche broke about 200’ to our right in a convex area we were avoiding. It ran fairly deep and ran approx 500 feet. We were not able to get great visibility on it and wanted to get out of there but did see a large debris pile and a tree that had snapped in the runout.
