Quick report
We skied Landslide Gully, and observed a variety of conditions throughout the line. Below the ice bulge (2350 ft) there was a dense breakable crust, which became gradually firmer, but never fully supportable, the higher we went. Above the ice bulge, there was obvious wind loading in the S facing leg of the gully. This varied from a wind skin on top of powder towards the left wall of the gully, to more cohesive pillows of wind slab to the right wall of the gully, where it appears more wind was hitting. These despite being very soft, just barely slabbed, these showed little energy and broke apart in hand pits, they also has no initiation with ski cuts. However we were still surprised by just how much snow was in the upper gully, at times waist deep wallowing. The top W facing chasm (3000 ft), was wind scoured, with sastrugi and 1f hard wind board. Overall this seemed to confirm the forecast, but terrain at the lower reaches of the forecast range is still variable, with conditions becoming drastically different with small changes in aspect and micro terrain features. As we skied out, elevations below 2000 ft were beginning to soften slightly in the sun.
