Snowpack
Rain to ridgelines a few days ago created thin rain crust with 3-4 inches of new snow on top of it. Small facets developed below rain crust, possibly through melt layer recrystalization. Reactive in tests failing below slab but minimal mass to the new snow. Unlikely to create an avalanche large enough to carry a person without more snow to build a slab.
The rest of the snowpack is rounding. Primary concern is a hardness and grain size step off 20 cm (10 inches) from the ground with 1F 2mm rounding facets sitting on 4F 4mm rounding depth hoar. Unreactive in tests but has multiple poor snowpack structure lemons.
Snow wasn't tipping to wet snow. Trees and rocks were starting to shed their snow on solar aspects mid afternoon, but no wet loose fanning out. If we do get some warm weather, the rain crust will be a good bed surface for wet snow to slide on.
