Parked at the trailhead and started skiing after a short boot. Snow was very firm in <1 inch of new snow on top. temp was 28-34 degrees. Started walking at 8:30 am. walked ridge up towards Sweeney Peak and skied the middle bowl of three to the north of Sweeney ridge. Started skiing around noon. Snow was firm/icy, northeast aspect. Skinned up the north west aspect and snow was softer. 2 inch dry crust layer could be picked up intact. 6 inches soft semi-hydrated newer snow on top of a freeze thaw crust at 8 inches with graupel imbedded. Rest of the pack was solid and right side up. Decided not to take a second lap. Skied back almost to the trailhead. however, the trail is advised for less combative skiers.
