We found mostly stable conditions today except for isolated pockets of hard, stubborn wind drifts along upper elevation ridgelines. The wind drifts were small but hard enough that if you triggered one in the wrong spot it could easily sweep you off your feet.
Recent wind and sun have created a widespread mix of breakable crusts at upper elevations. Ridgelines were heavily wind affected by a variety of recent wind directions. Last night's strong east winds had limited snow available for transport but still built some small wind crusts on west aspects. All aspects except north were sun crusted. North aspects held recycled powder in wind sheltered areas.
We dug a snowpit on a northeast aspect at 7800 ft in a somewhat wind-sheltered location. We found a right-side-up snowpack with no layers of concern and a total snow depth of 315 cm (124"). Stability tests did not produce any propagating results.

Clouds built in from the south through the day, with mostly sunny skies in the morning and overcast skies in the afternoon. Winds were light out of the east, and temperatures were cool.
