Up @ the alpine yurt from March 9-12 March 9: Sunny and warm. One new wet/loose observed in S facing terrain at the top of the drainage. Northern aspects held cold snow that had undergone a near-surface faceting cycle, everywhere else had gotten crusted up. Dug @ 7k on NE aspect ECT X. HS 215, January facet layer about a meter down and gaining strength. Mar 10: Trace - 2” of new snow with strong winds overnight + throughout the day. Not much snow available for transport from previous warm up Mar 11: 4-5 in of new snow. Bonded poorly to old snow surfaces but came in cold enough to not form a slab Mar 12: wind loaded areas had started to consolidate and test slopes were cracking easily and failing in hand pits. Sheltered areas showed no signs of instability. Overall stability seemed good. Northerly near-surface facet layer could be one to watch if we get more snow soon.
