Quick report
High clouds but lost of sunlight. On the rim, temps didn't get above freezing until afternoon and there was a steady 20 mph wind out of the south. Lower on the Mtn it was dead calm and the intense sun made it feel very very warm. New Snow from Wednesday as about a foot deep at the tree line but was melting fast this afternoon. On Monitor Ridge at 7600-8200', the route alternated between wind scoured ice and stretches of new snow up to 18: deep. Upbound skiers booted it below 5700'. Downbound this afternoon, there were a lot of exposed rocks below 5700' and ski travel was almost impossible below 5000'.
Avalanche
There were several loose wets above 6500'. Some starting at rocks on a SW aspect, at least one skier triggered. Skiers triggered swarms or roller balls on steep SE aspects between 5500 and 7000'. One skier triggered loose wet at 5000' was big enough to cause trouble in that narrow terrain (see pic).
