There was good coverage on north facing slopes above 7500 feet, about a meter deep. South facing slopes above 8000 were also skiable, with caution, and were warming quickly. We experienced a few small collapses while walking, but they did not prorogate far (no big whoomfs). We dug a pit and found a completely upright snowpack until 10 cm above the ground, where the snow became sugary and faceted. An ECT14 failed but did not propagate on a density change in the recent snow. This interface had a surprisingly clean shear plane(Q1). An ECTP27 failed and propagated on the lower facet/rounds interface. I will be avoiding steeper slopes until the snowpack improves.
