We traveled up to the pinch below Heyburn from the Bench hut and observed mostly faceted snow with various wind crusts in higher/exposed terrain. On average the snow pack above 9000' was about 60cm. Crusts appeared to be breaking down and unsupportable. Some members of our group felt isolated collapses in lower elevation terrain, however we did not observe any recent avalanches, recent wind transport or other signs of instability (just lots of rocks). I also noted widespread surface hoar growth in all lower elevation/sheltered terrain. Overall, I saw poor snowpack structure but lacking any type of slab.
