Quick report
- Cracking
- isolated
I squeezed in a short tour after completing maintenance at a nearby weather station. While the south side picked up about 2 inches of new snow, strong W winds unfortunately scoured most surfaces to the 3/9 crust. This crust was both boot/ski supportable and quite slick in some areas. I didn't use ski crampons, but I probably would have enjoyed having them in steeper terrain. This crust should be our new ground moving forward on the south side. Leeward terrain features were softer and harbored isolated, 6-12-inch-thick drifts that were reactive to ski cuts.
