Red Lake Peak

We still found some decent snow on Red Lake Peak today, but options are getting limited. On an E aspect, we skied facets on the surface, above a very firm layer a few inches down. Good enough for now, but it could become a concerning weak layer above a solid bed surface when we get more snow. When we dug a few profiles, the facet/crust combo repeated itself several times down in the top 1/3 of the snowpack. Everywhere we looked, the weakest facets and strongest crust under them was right at the surface. The facet/crust combos below that had thinner layers of facets that weren't as developed or as weak as the current surface facets. Snowpack tests did not indicate instability.
