This was a large, unintentionally triggered avalanche by a snowboarder based on the riders track. They got lucky! It was hard to tell how deep the debris was, but definitely deep enough to bury a person. The bed surface was old snow - a firm and smooth layer of frozen corn that had been skiing well two days prior. The crown extended nearly wall to wall across the SE face of Perry's Peak.
