Quick report
Went snowmobiling out in the Blue Lakes area today. When we arrived around 10:30 snow was still softening up. Shaded areas we're still frozen. Early morning ski penetration was minimal. Blue Lakes Road traveled well and was what seemed like freshly groomed. Wet snow continued to emerge as the sun moved around, and the ambient air temperatures continued to rise. Throughout the day we found an average of 1 to 3 inches of wet loose snow on the surface of any solar aspects. However, the sun was a major factor and direct solar radiation made for good corn like skiing. We did not see any roller balls or pinwheels on steeper slopes? Late in the afternoon, the road still traveled well but was greasy with turned up wet, loose snow.
