Just a trace of new snow since yesterday in Hope Valley, but as we rode past Lost Lake and Upper Blue Lake, tracks from yesterday were covered by an additional 4-6in of new snow. With settlement, there was 2ft of recent snow in this area above 8,000ft. We got inconsistent results on test slopes, with some showing signs of instability while others were not reactive. Oddly, the more wind loaded test slopes did not produce unstable results, but less wind loaded slopes did. All cracking observed today was shallow. Snow showers, light winds, and brief periods of strong sunshine.
Inconsistent cracking on test slopes, with several that did crack but others that didn't. One of my riding partners took a different route back than me, and saw a snowmobile triggered D1.5 avalanche that occurred today, but no further details are available.Weather
