Quick report
- Cracking
- isolated
No new snow, but significant signs of wind transport (and 70 mph gusts over the ridge at Little Round Top). Very cautious travel, avoided almost all avalanche terrain except for one short isolated slope where this event occurred. Overall snowpack felt stable, any cracking (6-12 inches from our skis at most) was isolated to obviously wind loaded slopes.
Avalanche
Skier-released small wind slab triggered at 38.73714, -120.03493 (elevation 8900 feet). No one caught, no injuries. Variable crown height between 2 and 8 inches, propagation about 10 feet.
