Quick report

Poor snowpack structure and stability tests show the Persistent Slab problem still exists. Until temperatures drop and the snowpack freezes the problem will linger.

Snowpack

The Blues have been above freezing since 1/18.  The snowpack is isothermal (the same temperature) from the top to the bottom. The surface snow is wet and the whole snowpack is moist. The facets around the November/December crust are now fully rounded. They are still considerably weaker than the snow above them. Poor snowpack structure and stability test scores point to the Persistent Slab problem still existing.

At 5420' on a North facing slope we found 110cm/3ft of snow. Stability test scores: CT15SC down 80cm, CT20 down 75cm, ECTX

At 5320 on a South facing  slope we found 70cm/2.5ft of snow. Stability Test score: CT15SC down 45cm.
