Quick report

Traveled uphill on the usual approach to Bullion Basin and then up to Platinum Peak. Snow was much firmer than anticipated on W aspects with difficult skinning at times. Had a good ski down into Cement Basin on an E aspect line N of Platinum Peak. Snow was soft with some ski penetration down to an icy layer. Dug a small hand pit at around 5800 feet; found 8” of soft snow (with a thermal/solar melt/freeze crust starting to form on top) over a sturdy 1.5” ice crust over wet snow. Exited via BBQ Trees with enjoyable skiing that exceeded low expectations with some survivable crust up high and a thin layer of soft snow at mid elevations turning to heavy soft snow close to the uptrack.
