Quick report
Skied west, south, and east aspects of Earl peak and enjoyed pretty decent corn and coverage in the basin. Able to drive to 3350’ on FR 9737-112. Snow cover was intermittent from 3700’ to about 4500’, lots of skis on/off. Travel up to the ridge NW of Earl and to the summit was firm-icy, ski crampons not necessary but helpful. First descent was into the bowl West of Earl summit, surfaces were very aspect sensitive- at 1:30 the aspect we skied was starting to refreeze and developed a breakable crust, while we observed skiers 100 yds North of us enjoy very good corn into the same bowl. South aspect skied great for the first 800’ around 2:15 with a sharp transition to deep penetrating shmoo at about 6200’. No noteworthy snow movement, but we did observe cracking on the backside of cornices sagging from the South ridge of Earl on our ascent. East chutes skied well with some sensitivity to aspect at 3:15.
Avalanche
Noted one seemingly skier triggered avalanche on the West face of Judi’s peak. Occurred sometime between noon and 3:30.
