Canyon Creek: Snowpack in the eastern portion of the zone is very lean up at 7k’ and is pretty much nonexistent on south and west aspects. I was trying to get to Midnight Mt, but turned around at 3am Mt because of terrain traps across the ridge (I kept on falling into holes with my snowshoes). I even had to perform some light self-rescue with my ice axe when my snowshoe got wedged under a boulder. Areas further east (Loup Loup) are lacking snow wise (lots of bare ridges).
