Quick Observation

THURSDAY 23rd. Skinned up Leach Ridge from the powerline, thinking to ski a line or two in the shady north bowl. Sun-crust on solar aspects, wind crust on the ridges and high points. Dug a hasty pit near the ridgeline in a sheltered area …. two weak layers failed in an extended column test: ECTN 27 down 25 cm; ECTP 27 down 70 cm. The 25 cm layer also failed in a primitive ‘burp’ test. Modified the plan and skied the (still dry) NW low angle slope back into Coal Creek Pass. Fast and consistent binding-top pow. Calm wind. Beautiful sunshine. Schweeeeet !
