Quick Observation
Very foggy conditions nearly sent us home early. We were all set to eat lunch and ski out by brail down the skin track, but just when all hope was lost, a slight clearing lured us onwards - and boy did we ever live to regret it! Conditions on the broader, lower angle route up promised soft, wind pressed boot top pow, but alas the narrow gully off the ridge was plagued with rock hard, icy old avalanche debris and a solid suncrust/ melt freeze crust. Following some of the worst skiing of our lives, the lower angle run out provided an opportunity to link multiple turns - what a treat! Some light sloughing of wind pressed snow in the entrance (2560m, S/SE aspect) didn’t gain mass or momentum, and no other signs of instability were noticed.
