Quick Observation
Had 2 nights ( out of 3 as 1st night was surrendered to let conditions settle after the Saturday storm) at Asulkan ( 09.12-11.12). Clouds were persistent at about 2000m on Tuesday , much higher on Wednesday. Storm snow seemed to be well bonded to older snow - odd thing was we saw no debris and experienced no movement reaction to mass loading or general skiing. Conditions on North Aspects were fantastic, travel was not hindered by storm snow, although we had only a few sections of breaking trail.. all the keeners on the 8th did some good setting of uptracks. Lots of people out - triangle moraine/ tree triangle / ravens / dome all had tracks. I suppose the one fly in the ointment was the fact there was no debris at the bottom of big features- either buried or biding time??
