Burnt Knob

Test pit at pin location: 1540m, E aspect. Height of snow 205cm. x3 decomposing crusts at 140cm, 120cm, and 85cm above ground. Lowest one most prominent, with decomposing crystals to 6mm, resistance 1F to 4F. Layer above and below consistently pencil resistance. Upper two layers had similar characteristics; hard snow above & below decomposing layer. No results to compression tests on weak layers, tho had hard broken result in upper snowpack. Structure elicited little confidence in stability.
