Keiths Hut

Three days at Keiths from Jan 6-8. Temps over the weekend @ 1648 (High 0.4 / Low -4). Strong winds Friday night tried to move snow, (no new wind slabs observed). In sheltered lee from 1600m and up we found 10-20cm of fun fast skiing. Better quality than anticipated! Enough snow to travel and ski on anniversary / up Vantage.

Observed from across the valley on Jan 6 (occurred 48 hrs ago) Previous storm snow failing on the late dec crust in steep, shallow rocky terrain. Most Recent 5cm sloughing in steep terrain (dec 8) No other avalanche observations from Jan 6-8. Wind slabs are around if you go searching. Low Probability high consequence Snowpack!
