We took advantage of good visibility and went to the Renshaw to see the effects of this week’s storm. We were surprised to find a lack of avalanche activity other than loose dry slides in steep terrain. There is now 70cm of snow above the thick crust from last weekend making for amazing riding in sheltered spots. The wind was at work in higher areas where it was blowing the new snow into deep windslabs. We had shooting cracks from our sleds while testing some small slopes in wind loaded terrain. Despite the holiday hordes, we managed to find a secluded bowl with deep, untouched powder to enjoy. The sun poked out in the afternoon putting the cherry on top of another awesome day in the mountains.
