While approaching the climb, we had several large whumpfs, and took a high line to minimize exposure. Power sluffing was occurring across the Headwall with the sun, and we noted a number of loose wet and wet slab avalanches on the south aspect across the valley through the day. Ski conditions on the descent on that side of the valley had heavy sun crust formation. The ice was surprisingly brittle, with lots of dinner plating and large fracturing all the way up.
