Quick Observation

It didn't get as warm as we thought it would in the sun today and the cooler temps helped keep the avalanche hazard in check. At noon, south faces in the alpine were just starting to turn a little moist from the sun. North and east faces stayed dry today all the way down to 1000m which is great news for riding quality in those places. We saw a few small shallow windslabs that were likely triggered by riders yesterday, that didnt pose much hazard. In our tests we found the old windslabs to be pretty stubborn and not very reactive. We were leery of the sun on cornices though and made sure to give them a wide berth if possible or limit our exposure time riding beneath them- especially during the warmest parts of the day. Views were awesome and the travel was easy. It was a great day to explore far and wide!
