Below treeline solar aspects hold minimal snow with 15-30 cm observed. Shaded aspects hold 50-70cm of snow. On Eastern aspects, the double ice layer remains, both ice layers are faceting and starting to blend with the rest of the snowpack. I was unable to find the previously identified surface hoar within these layers. On Northern aspects, the lower ice layer remains, but is also faceting. The upper ice layer was not present in pits dug into Northern layers below treeline. New snow from the January 5th storm is 15-20cm in depth on all aspects and well-bonded to the older snow. Basal facets on all aspects were found to be wet and cohesive. Stability tests would indicate limited instability within the snowpack.
