With high danger and heavy snowfall in the forecast, we chose a chill trip plan to stay out of avalanche terrain and look for sheltered, tree riding. At the Morfee cabin there was 30 cm of new snow and strong southwest winds at all elevations. Significant drifting on the road indicated that wind slabs were likely forming in lee areas. We stuck to sheltered, mellow trees and found great riding with minimal slab properties in the storm snow in sheltered areas.
We noticed the cabin is closed, FYI
