Avalanche Information
A group of two were digging roughly 100cms in depth to dig out part of the NE facing cornice near the top of Hankin, lead person digging miss judged the appropriate depth to enter the edge of the cornice and overall size from the bottom of the feature. Which set of a 2m by 4m cornice which resulted in a dry loose avalanche which ran to the bottom of the feature
Weather
In and out light flurries throughout the day with blowing snow to the E calm to light winds throughout the day with slight cooling throughout the day with a air temp of -9 at 1300
Snowpack
Dug a ECT at tree line below the main north bowl ridge in a sheltered area above the trees, no results on a etc and had some difficulty prying the block off the column and it broke unevenly across the base of the column, inspected PWL at 140cms and found mixed forms of rounds and some facets 0.5-2mm.
