Skied north facing terrain up to about 1250m today near shames. We encountered widespread fresh, deep wind slabs beginning in open patches around 900m. the transported snow had completely erased a skin track from the day before. As we progressed towards the alpine the wind slabs turned hard. We avoided steep terrain and observed shooting cracks as we skied the mellow terrain we’d come up. South wind was ripping and still transporting a lot of snow despite the already hard surfaces.
Temps quickly climbed above 0 this morning at lower elevations and the snow was heavy and wet below 700m, maybe a bit higher.
