Hunting for Hoars

Riding in the Calzon today, we didn’t see any of the Surface Hoar from the Bijoux area, but the new storm snow is definitely still reactive. On a ridge top we found shooting cracks on some denser wind affected snow, and we triggered a small failure on test cuts of a drift in a cutblock. New snow is about 15 deep here, slightly deeper in the trees. We found it failing on a layer of stellars at the base of the storm slab. We didn’t see any natural avalanches anywhere at Treeline or in the Alpine
