Good day in thar hills - Elk Mountain

Beautiful sunny day and amazing day for a workout up high. Decent skiing to be had above 1300m - the price to pay is bumping through frozen snow mobile tracks and breakable crust to get there. Bit of soft on top of the crust above 1300m. Did a couple of laps of north glades. Avoided some wind loaded features off of the ridge.

Sunny, light winds. 1C around noon.

Snow at 500m, at 600m elevation (between 3 & 4km on the Elk main) blocked our way for the 4x4 . Very challenging ski conditions (aka frozen snow mobile tracks) until 1000m. Breakable crust to 1250m. Above that about 5cm on top of the crust and soft underneath it. Ski pole in around 1300m was about 70cm to the bomber lower snowpack. Skiiing was enjoyable above that (see photo).
