Late start at 2:00 p.m. Toured up the $1000 Run from Hatch Creek after dropping down from first bend in road above the gate. New 20 cm snow from yesterday now mashed potatoes due to high albedo. Depth of snow at 170 cm which is a lot for this time year. Numerous wet loose and wet slab avalanches had run on all aspects. About half way up the route, large cloud mass moved in from west, temperature dropped and light turned flat. I made my descent following skin track and encountered instantly formed surface crust.
