Relatively recent avalanches observed on all aspects. These were likely from during/shortly after the recent loading event. However, the majority of avalanches observed WERE NOT WINDSLABS. They were widely propagating and appeared to fail on depth hoar that seems to be widespread. Hand pits failed on isolation in the depth hoar on Friendship pass and on microdot. Collapsing and cracking was widespread in any area that had seen wind. Basically, this is every area in which we traveled. The snowpack seems to be incredibly unstable, with the possibility of remote triggers. This is evidenced by recent natural and human triggered persistent slab avalanches, widespread reports of collapsing and cracking, poor snowpack structure, and poor pit results. We decided that this is not a good time to be exposed to avalanche terrain. In retrospect, we perhaps should not have travelled up friendship pass.
