Mostly cloudy with snow showers. S1 to S2 throughout most of the day, low density snow. Gusty conditions out of the south at the low elevations, more SW above 9k' feet.
Snowpack
58 cm of snow on the Surprise interval board since Feb. 24 with 2.9 inches of water. HS was 273 cm (or more). Layer of low density stellars down 18 cm, this will be a potential failure plane for future storm slabs and wind slabs at the upper elevations in the Tetons. The Feb 25- Mar 2 snow has settled into a decent 4f slab.
Noticed some sun crusts that formed at the low elevations on southerly aspects yesterday morning. This was the failure plane for small fist-hard storm slabs on these aspects. This "soft" crust lies 3-6 inches above the Feb 18 layer at the low elevations and may not be widespread.
