Quick report

Cracking
widespread
Collapsing
isolated

Top of the Pass to Coal Creek sticking to sheltered terrain. Strong S winds along exposed ridgelines actively loading leeward terrain. Lots of variability in snow depth based on wind. Upside new snow created touchy conditions with lots of cracking and one collapse on a wind loaded ridge feature. Shooting cracks were up to 15' long in sheltered and exposed terrain. Overall unstable new snow, but lacked the slab in many areas to fully slide. Forecasted snow totals seemed on the low end of the spectrum. Winds were accurate. Snowing in Wilson, raining in Jackson at 1500. Reports of rain in Victor and Alpine. Targhee shut down due to high winds. Play it safe out there as this storm snow is some of the most reactive we've seen this season. Let is settle before venturing out.
