Lookout Pass

On a short walk, found around 30 cm of snow just above pass level. Generally homogenous snow layers, but found an approx. 5 cm layer of F hard snow at the ground below 4F hard snow. We could easily make a snowball within the new snow. General snow cover above about 5,000 feet appears deep enough for over-the-snow travel, but thin coverage likely exists on most slopes. Snow depths dramatically decrease below about 4,500 feet.
