Snowpack
We observed extreem differences between SW and NE aspects. Touring up the more southern aspects we saw 1-4 inches if heavy snow on top of a stout 3 inch crust. A hasty pit showed an ECTN 13 about a foot deep in some soft snow. On a sheltered NE aspect at 6000 ft there was over a foot of very soft snow on top of a series of weak layers and crusts. None of these weak layers propagated in an ECT except for the January drout layer (JDL) when extreem force was applied. We observed large surface hoar still preserved on the JDL.
