Skied S facing shots in the upper whitefish range today. Before climbing, noted that the snow pack at 5500 was the same on N and S facing slopes. The snow pack around 5500 was a little strange. It felt like rain crust and windslab had a baby, and was covered by ~8 inches of snow that struggled to adhere. Below the crust was moist snow. Upon climbing, the snow pack got substantially better fast, with bottomless snow found before long, resulting in many epic face shots. We regretted not bringing sunglasses as it was a surprisingly sunny day. Temps felt very cold, maybe near 0 degrees. Lots of dry loose on steeper sections.
