At around 1200 we skinned up Beartrap fork to West Willow ridgeline via the beartrap aspens and descended the same way. It was a beautiful day with low winds, clear skies, and colder temps. We found widespread recrystallized snow with a layer of small surface hoar that made for pleasant skiing, but quickly baked away in the afternoon sun. In our snowpit we found a shallower, although stable snowpack at around 84cm HS. our stability tests confirmed our confidence in the current snowpack, however the faceting surface snow will certainly be in the front of my mind whenever our next storm rolls in.
