Above is the snowpit we did with the class. The temperature profile is quite interesting, especially in the top 40 cms.

We observed some localized collapses and cracking around our skis and snowshoes in the flats.

We observed evidence of two natural avalanches in the area that probably occurred last weekend (Sunday night or early Monday morning).

Snowpack

New snow from Wednesday was mostly graupel.  This capped a solid and dirty melt-freeze crust from the insane warmth earlier in the week.  We think the strong winds brought in the dust on Monday night and Tuesday.
