We triggered a handful of whumpfs while ascending to Swan Peak via the football field. We dug a pit to examine the layers underfoot on a southwesterly aspect at 8500 ft. Results were ECTP 12 with Q1 (very planar) shear interface, failing on the new snow / old crust interface approximately 35cm down.
