Descending from Flagstaff's western ridge, partner entered an area of low coverage with exposed rocks, triggered a 10" wind slab that ran on what seemed to be a recent sun crust. Partner was able to ride off the edge of the slab as it released and self arrest. Temps were well below freezing and the surface snow has refrozen where sun affected, elsewhere heavy powder.
