Quick report
It was a cold but fun day in the ol' La Sals. We took the opportunity to practice some beacon searches during mediocre ski conditions. Today was a good day to get out with friends and recite the mantra, "Skiing is better than not skiing"
Let's hope the new snowfall pleasantly surprises us, and Uncle Gusty leaves town for a bit.

- <p>Wind crusts were encountered on south aspects, but only present at the crests of north facing ridges. Further down in the trees they were not present. Light winds and afternoon snowfall will only contribute to this avalanche problem if snowfall rates increase overnight and winds pick up in the oncoming weak disturbance.</p> <p>We did not dig on north aspects today, but some general ski pole probing indicated the presence of some changing densities in the descending layers of the snowpack. </p>
We scrounged up some pretty good creamy north facing powder in steeper trees. These aspects and elevations have stayed cold and have not been completely devastated by wind. Surprisingly, the south facing meadows on Laurel Ridge contained some recycled powder magically lacking a sun or wind crust.
