Noted some older, some recent avalanches on the Middle, Grand, Teewinot, the Wall, and others. 

Patience with the terrain we choose to enter is essential right now. Despite more snow accumulation throughout December, we're still seeing feedback on facets near the base of the snowpack remaining active in patches but not necessarily in an easily observable or predictable pattern. It can be assumed that greater spatial spread (and layer thickness) of weak snow will be found on the north half of the compass, but this is also where the snowpack is likely deepest and harder to impact (and find) said layers and the story usually isn't as simple as that. As they say, the devil is in the details. The facet layer we're concerned with may not look as bad as last year. Still, in my experience, I've seen as many avalanches on rounding facet layers as on fully developed, obvious facet layers.

Coverage remains very variable and sparse still, and things that come to mind that commonly harbor weaker snow but aren't all on N half of the compass include the long, narrow, rocky canyon walls on the W side of the Tetons, the E face of Teewinot, W faces that see more wind and may remain shallower in their start zones (W off Albright), and other commonly frequented (but also frequent flyers) including the Pyramid, Horshoe Bowl, etc.
