It was obvious today that we have a very reactive snowpack, the persistent slab problem that was forecasted appeared to be everywhere we went. We were out for a nice tour on our Level 1 Avalanche course and experienced widespread collapsing on all aspects (SW to NW) that we traveled on from 8800' to 10000'.
Snowpack
We experienced a very touchy snowpack today on West Angle Mountain. A slab ranging from 22-30cm deep from the surface was sitting on 2mm facets to the ground on almost all aspects SW to NW between 8,800' and 10,000'. In certain areas the presence of buried Surface Hoar made the snowpack more reactive. The recipe of Strong over Weak was everywhere we looked today and in 5 pits we found propagation in them all during our ECT tests, ranging from ECTP1 and ECTP 4 all the way to ECTP 22, all on the slab/facet interface.
