Yostmark Rec Level 2 course. We dug near the confluence of Trail Creek and Mail Cabin at 7350', NW aspect, 27° slope. We were looking for Surface Hoar at the N/O interface which was down 45cm from the surface. We did not have propagation in our pit, and found some SH which was experiencing layer thinning from warm temps/ snow above and soft NSF beneath. We dug up on the Windy Ridge skin track at 8500', E, 27° slope. Height of snow was 216cm. Layer of concern was the graupel from early in the storm, down 36cm from the surface. ECTN24 and CT12 Q2 on this layer. Finally, we dug next to an old avalanche which most likely slid on Sunday during the storm. This was along the skin track in the West FK of Mail Cabin, 7600', South aspect. HS 155 with the New/ Old interface down 45 as the layer of concern. No propagation in this pit either, and we got PST 70/100 end. Overall, we found a wetter environment and snowpack below 8000' with dripping trees and small wet loose on all aspects. The recent storm snow is quickly settling and stabilizing where we travelled below 9000' due to warm snow and tempos. We observed windier conditions up on Windy Ridge where duning was visible and it can be assumed the slab is much harder in that more exposed location.
