In the upper section of the trail there is a section of snowpack on the steeper slope. The trail crossed it and I got partway across when I heard cracking. The snow was about knee deep but very icy so mostly one could walk on it without sinking and only sinking in a few spots. However when I heard the cracking I sprinted to an area that was dry because I was really afraid that I was going to trigger an avalanche and get stuck in it. Probably stupid for me to try to cross it but I thought it would be okay and I am just glad that nothing bad happened.
